Our Board of Directors

Dr. Elaine Weidenhammer is a strategic marketing and business development professional with 10 years of experience identifying and evaluating new market opportunities. Currently, Elaine is Senior Manager of Market Development at ResMed, a medical device company that develops, manufactures, and markets products for sleep apnea. In this role, Elaine is responsible for establishing and managing strategic partnerships to increase awareness about sleep apnea and its associated comorbidities.

Elaine received her undergraduate degree from Johns Hopkins University and her Ph.D. in molecular biology from Carnegie Mellon University. After completing a post-doctoral fellowship at UCSD, Elaine joined Nanogen, Inc., a San Diego-based diagnostics company. She worked as a research scientist for several years before transitioning into business development and strategic marketing. Elaine received her MBA from the UCSD Rady School of Management and was the recipient of the first Athena-Gray Cary-UCSD Rady scholarship.

Elaine is the Associate Member representative on Athena’s Board of Directors, Interim Co-Chair of the Affinity Group Steering Committee, and Co-Chair of the Forum for Executive Women (FEW) Steering Committee. She has also served as Co-Chair of the Associate Members Affinity Group. Elaine has also been very active in the San Diego chapter of the Association for Women in Science, including serving as president from 1999-2002.
